HOW DO WE MENTOR YOUNG MINDS & INVESTIGATE FOR NEW INNOVATIONS

As mentioned earlier, the equality of access to opportunity is a basic right that should be provided to every citizen. Hence, in order to ensure this, education would be compulsory at school level where each student has to attend school. The quality of education at each school would not drastically vary so that every child has the opportunity to get good education. Education at school level would be free so that children who are in poverty are still able to attend school. After graduating from school, these students would go on to do different universities on the basis of how well they perform in school. Unlike school, different universities would have different ranking and some might be better than others. However, the cost of every university would either be very minimal or it would be free. This is done so that the students build their own future based on their dedication and how hard they work and not on the basis of how much money they have. The school and university will be paid for by the government with the help of taxes. Education is free for many countries for example Brazil, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and many countries in Europe including France, Germany where education is free for all European and International students.

An important portion of the education would also focus on technology, so that the students are well aware of how the computer works and how it can be of great importance to society. However, along with all this, the students would be educated about digital citizenship. They would also be taught of the impact of IT in society especially because nearly all fields today are making use of IT in some way or another.  Even though technology would be taught in school, there would be a balance between classic education, meaning books etc. and education that is dependent on IT. This would be done in order to reduce the student’s dependence on IT systems. Computer science classes are becoming mandatory in many countries around the world, for example in around 2014, England became the first country in the EU to mandate computer science for children between ages 5 to 16.

At university level,  the students can be paid for doing research as well as for their equipment, this would not only help the student learn but it would be in the betterment of the the society as a whole.

In case, the student is unable to attend his or her classes in person maybe due to some disability, which in Terra Nova is not a reason for discrimination, inequality or deprivation, the student will be provided with the means to complete his or her education, mainly with the help of the internet and specific courses directed at a wide spectrum of disadvantages, with no additional charges. They may be able to attend class with the help of a webcam, or they might get their education completely for example with the help of MOOCs which stand for massive open online courses. A real life example of an opportunity to participate in online courses would be Coursera, in which subscribers/users can choose from the extensive categories offered to enroll in a course, which is lead by an instructor who directs the class based on a weekly plan.
